At Ahlsell, you will find a large variety of steel tubes. We have both polished steel tubes for use, for example, as steel legs on furniture and similar purposes, where the final finish is important. They are not suitable for construction, but our S355 versions are - both the hot- and cold-formed (EN10219 and EN10210).

On this page, you will find different steel tubes in the form of:

In addition, we can offer steel tubes in black steel, hot- and cold-formed hollow profiles, flat oval tubes, and smooth HF-welded tubes. Among our large selection of steel tubes, you can also find threaded tubes, seamless steel tubes, hollow profiles, welded steel tubes, square steel tubes, and stainless steel tubes.

All steel tubes are delivered in full lengths of 6-12.1 meters for square steel tubes and 4-7 and 6 meters for round steel tubes. Our size range includes, among others, steel tubes of 20 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm, and 100 mm. Buy everything online at a really good price and get fast delivery - it's easy and simple.

What can you use steel tubes for?

You can use steel tubes for many different purposes. Square steel tubes are also called hollow profiles, which you can use for building frames, for example. The square profile provides a large amount of strength and some resistance to bending, and keeps its shape easily.

Round steel tubes can be used as, among other things, water pipes if you need to make an outdoor faucet for the garden hose, or if you need to create water pipes for a washing machine or other large appliances. It may not always be appropriate to use soft PEX pipes here, but instead, steel tubes that are visibly mounted on tube supports on the wall or ceiling.

They can also be used to run electrical wires through if the wires are located in a place where they could be subject to pressure from a collision. A steel tube around the wire will protect the wire and can prevent a potential short circuit if something were to collide with the tube.

Get stainless steel tubes for many different purposes

Stainless steel tubes are, of course, made of stainless steel, which contains at least 10% chromium in addition to iron, and stainless steel can also contain nickel, carbon, and molybdenum. The addition of these extra alloying elements helps to provide the stainless steel with both mechanical protection and corrosion resistance, making it better suited for use in environments where ordinary steel would quickly rust and thus lose its strength and qualities.

Stainless steel tubes can be used for, among other things, buried heating and drinking water installations, where the stainless steel will provide much better durability in moist soil than ordinary steel. There are also many advantages to using stainless steel tubes in areas where the pipes are particularly exposed to wind and weather.

Although stainless steel tubes have a high resistance to corrosion, stainless steel can still rust if, for example, it is exposed to acidic liquids, chemicals, or saltwater over a long period. See our entire range of stainless steel tubes here.

Find cold-rolled steel for your work

Hollow profiles are square steel tubes that are produced through cold rolling. Cold rolling is a manufacturing process where steel is rolled in a cold state after the initial hot rolling. Subsequently, the steel is annealed by being heated, cooled, and then cleaned. Annealing is necessary to prevent cracking and breaking as a result of the cold rolling.

Cold-rolled steel is superior to hot-rolled steel in a number of parameters. It can result in a thinner material, a neater surface, more precise dimensions, and better forming properties. Cold-rolled hollow profiles can typically be obtained in equilateral shapes, where the tubes have a square profile, and as unequal shapes, where the tubes have a rectangular profile.

FAQ:

What is the difference between hot- and cold-formed steel tubes?

  • Hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel are generally suitable for the same purposes. Both variants should ideally receive a surface treatment if the steel tubes are to be used outdoors. The biggest difference lies in the surface finish, where cold-rolled steel is neater, as well as in the tolerances on the dimensions of the steel. These are more precise in cold-rolled steel. Cold-rolled steel also requires more processing than hot-rolled steel, which is why cold-rolled steel is often more expensive.

Can I get my steel tubes cut to size?

  • Ahlsell has access to a unique cutting service, so you receive the steel in the correct dimensions - ready to use. We deliver the steel to the cut size, packaged, labeled, and with documentation, so it is ready for production or assembly. We also naturally offer bevel cutting. Through our partner, we have access to a saw that is targeted at producing large series.

What is the delivery time for steel tubes?
