3M Xtract™ low-profile backing plate is rigid yet flexible to add versatility to flat sanding applications, designed to hold the disc securely on an orbital sander. Part of the 3M Xtract series, designed for optimal dust extraction and to create a vacuum that pulls dust from the workpiece to extend disc life and enhance productivity. Use this backing plate in coarser grit sizes where good levelling is necessary. Ideal for aggressive flat sanding, constructed of firm density foam with a 35-degree beveled edge for added durability. A science of dust management Our proprietary multi-hole system can be used with a vacuum system to eliminate dust from the plate, workpiece, and environment. Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when the abrasive surface is not clogged with dust. One-piece threaded shaft enables minimal vibration and improved balance.
