1,000 participants for a large event: Ahlsell gathered suppliers and employees for speed dating in Aalborg

Ahlsell Denmark hosted a large event at the Aalborg Congress & Culture Center on Friday. Over 1,000 participants, including all of Ahlsell's Danish employees and representatives from more than 50 of the company's suppliers, gathered to discuss how the parties can work together to drive new initiatives in the market and thereby contribute to Ahlsell's ambitious growth strategy in Denmark.

This was the focal point when Ahlsell Denmark - which has taken over the company Sanistål, and is part of the Nordic region's largest distributor of, among other things, tools, steel, plumbing, and electrical articles for the construction industry and manufacturing - invited a total of 53 suppliers and all Danish employees to a large event in Aalborg on Friday, May 24.

Here, there were professional presentations from companies like Grohe, Tibnor, and Milwaukee, as well as the opportunity to move around the more than 60 stands, which were mainly occupied by the many suppliers. Additionally, the program included more than 260 speed dates, where suppliers and Ahlsell's customer-facing employees would discuss sales activities and possibilities for driving new initiatives in the market together.

- It was a fantastic day, where we established a strong foundation for future cooperation with many of our suppliers. It is no secret that we have great ambitions in the Danish market, and we see it as absolutely crucial that we, together with strategic suppliers, focus on competencies, assortments, customer value, shared potential, and growth opportunities in relation to our new Ahlsell setup in Denmark. To create growth and achieve a strengthened position in the market, we need to have the same strong, professional knowledge about the products, a shared understanding of customers, and exchange strategic insights, says CEO Claudio Christensen from Ahlsell Denmark, and continues:

- That’s why our speed dating event was also really interesting. Speed dating is normally about checking if there’s chemistry between people – and we must say that the chemistry was excellent. Both we as a retailer and the suppliers have a common goal of creating solutions for the benefit of our customers, and many exciting things and ideas were discussed that we now need to follow up on.

At the beginning of April, Ahlsell changed the names of its 24 Danish hardware stores, which sell to the craft sector and industry, from Sanistål to Ahlsell as part of the corporation's major offensive in the Danish market. Ahlsell has taken a number of initiatives that improve service and the shopping experience both in the stores and online to challenge competitors, and the corporation has ambitions of making two to three acquisitions in Denmark each year.

The event in Aalborg was also the first time since the new setup took effect that all employees from Ahlsell Denmark were gathered – including employees from KJV A/S and Bacher Work Wear, which Ahlsell has taken over.
