Thisted awarded as the Årets Sanistål-Store 2017

Out of the group’s 47 stores, it was this year Sanistål's store in Thisted that won the award for Store of the Year – an award that is being presented for the tenth time this year. Thus, it was one of the smaller stores with three employees that came out on top among the nominees, which also include the stores in Frederikshavn and Køge.

 

"An always positive sales attitude"

"All three were worthy candidates. But overall, the store in Thisted scored the highest. They have both impressive internal numbers and customer analyses. They are always good at solving customers' challenges, are very visible in the local area, and they handle a lot of tasks exceptionally well,” says Sanistål's sales director Claus Jæger Nørbjerg.

Together with the three regional managers, he has for the first time this year evaluated all stores regardless of size as one. The stores are assessed based on a wide range of both soft and hard criteria.

Initially, the stores' revenue and earnings are considered. Then, the focus shifts to the stores' level of service, layout, and standards. The way the store manager fulfills their role and how customers evaluate the stores also plays a part.

 

"It was surreal"

The store manager in Thisted, Morten Thomsen, is not just happy and honored to be this year's award recipient. He is also surprised.

"We are a small store that set up an entirely new team at the end of 2016, so just being nominated was significant and an honor. Therefore, it was also completely surreal when it became clear that our store was declared the winner.

We were up against two larger and very worthy competitors, so I honestly didn't think we stood a chance, even though we've had a fantastic year,” says Morten Thomsen.

 

Motivation and honor

According to sales director Claus Jæger Nørbjerg, the award for Store of the Year is more than just a trophy, a diploma, and a gift card for a large cake for the winning store's customers and employees.

"It is both an honor and a motivating factor. This is how we want it to be, and fortunately, there are many who want to compete for it. Several store managers include in their action plans that they aim to be nominated. So the award is associated with a lot of pride. And, of course, the right to mock the other stores,” says Claus Jæger Nørbjerg.
