“Sanistål is a responsible company, and we are constantly focused on reducing our climate footprint. It is our ambition that Sanistål will be net-zero by 2030 at the latest. A significant step in this direction is now being taken as we have decided to transition our entire vehicle fleet to electric cars,” says Claudio Christensen, CEO of Sanistål.
Sanistål is converting its entire vehicle fleet to electric cars
Sanistål is focused on significantly reducing its climate footprint, and now it's time for the company's company cars. From January 1, 2023, employees at Sanistål will only be able to choose an electric company car.
Cars are the largest item in Sanistål's climate accounts
Today, the CO2 emissions from company cars are the largest item in the climate accounts. A full 42 percent of Sanistål's total CO2 emissions come from 181 company cars, most of which run on diesel or gasoline.
“Until now, we have tried to motivate our employees to choose an electric company car, but we must acknowledge that it is progressing too slowly if we really want to make a difference for the environment. Therefore, we have decided that starting next year, it will no longer be an option to have a company car that runs on diesel or gasoline. All new company cars at Sanistål will henceforth be electric vehicles,” says Claudio Christensen.
Next year, charging stations will be set up at 15-20 Sanistål locations across the country.
Happy to drive a car that does not pollute
Kim Trandberg Kjøller was the first salesperson at Sanistål to switch to an electric car. It has been more than a year now, and he is happy and satisfied that he is now lessening his impact on the environment.
“I feel good driving a car that does not pollute. We need to take care of our shared environment so that there is something left for our children and grandchildren,” says Kim Trandberg Kjøller. He thinks it is a great idea that all his colleagues will also be driving electric cars now.
“Electric cars are definitely the way forward, and I have only had good experiences. It is comfortable and fun to drive an electric car, and it sends a good signal to the outside world that Sanistål is a responsible company that wants to take care of the environment,” he says.
The transition of Sanistål’s car fleet will take place over the next three years as the current company cars are replaced. It is expected that there will only be electric cars in Sanistål’s car fleet by 2027.
Net zero
Net zero means that one strives to reduce a company's CO2 emissions as much as possible, to reach zero, or as close to zero as possible. If there are emissions that cannot be avoided, one will compensate for these through, for example, planting new forests that can absorb the remaining amount of CO2.
