Despite difficult market conditions and a beginning slowdown in construction, 2022 was a good year for the Danish wholesaler Sanistål. This is stated in the company's annual report, which is published today.
Sanistål's revenue rose by 7.5% to 3.7 billion DKK in 2022, with growth significantly driven by price increases throughout the year. The growth in the Danish parent company amounted to 7.7%, with advancements in all five customer categories, while the business in the Baltics achieved a growth of 6.8%.
The company's operating income (EBITDA) increased by 36% to 223 million DKK in 2022. Before one-off effects, the operating income was 250 million DKK, while the EBITDA margin improved from 5.6% to 6.8%.
“We are very satisfied with the result for 2022. We have focused on increasing our earnings to enter 2023 in a stronger position. We have succeeded in a challenging market characterized by price increases, inflation, war, energy crisis, and downturn trends in the construction sector,” says Claudio Christensen, managing director of Sanistål and country manager of Ahlsell Denmark.
Sanistål thus concluded 2022 impressively, which was the last year for the company as a publicly traded entity. The Danish wholesale company was acquired by Ahlsell in December, which is the leading distributor of installation products, tools, and supplies for professional customers in the Nordic region. The Sanistål stock was delisted from Nasdaq Copenhagen in January.
”With Ahlsell, we have gained a financially strong industrial owner, and I believe this is the perfect match for Sanistål. There is now a solid foundation to work on our ambitious plans for the future, and both Ahlsell and Sanistål are highly focused on the integration process so that we can leverage each other's strengths moving forward,” says Claudio Christensen.
Although there are still uncertain market prospects, he looks forward to a positive and exciting 2023:
”Last year, we launched our new strategy, Accelerate, which aims to unfold the enormous potential that Sanistål has. We will develop our future business through profitable growth, and in 2023 we will also offer our customers new products and services that will support our future growth journey.”
