Sanistål in partnership for the benefit of young people with autism

Sanistål has entered into a partnership agreement with the social economy IT company NordVirk in Aalborg. The agreement means that Sanistål will henceforth donate its retired IT equipment to NordVirk, which has success in helping young people with autism get closer to education and employment.

”I am extremely happy about our partnership agreement with Sanistål. It means a lot to us that a large, recognized Danish company like Sanistål is supporting our social work,” says NordVirks director Stepan Lee.

NordVirk is a social-economic IT company that buys and sells used IT equipment while also offering educational and job training programs for young people with autism and similar developmental disorders.

Glad to support NordVirk

Sanistål is also excited about the partnership with NordVirk.

“One cannot help but be captivated by NordVirk's impressive work in providing young people with autism a work identity and bringing them closer to the labor market. Social responsibility is deeply embedded in Sanistål's DNA, and that is why we are proud to support a social economy company like NordVirk. It is evident that NordVirk makes a huge difference for the young people they have in work training,” says Gitte Østergaard Futtrup, who is the sustainability manager at Sanistål.

Frederik takes care of the customers

20-year-old Frederik Svenning Andersen has an autism diagnosis.

”I really like my job here at NordVirk. I have tried various tasks, but now I mostly work in our store. It’s really exciting,” he says.

In NordVirk's store, you can buy used and refurbished computers at a good price, and among others, it is Frederik who helps the customers.

”The best thing about NordVirk is the community and that it is a real company. I love customer contact, and that is definitely something I have learned here. I would like to work in a store in the future,” he says.

Has donated IT equipment worth 40,000 DKK.

With the partnership agreement, Sanistål will henceforth donate its outdated IT equipment to NordVirk. The first batch of laptops, worth around 40,000 DKK, has been delivered. Sanistål expects to be able to provide similar amounts of IT equipment to the social economy IT company a couple of times a year.

NordVirk in Aalborg currently has 28 young people with autism in work training. Most participate in a three-year STU program, where they, as employees of the company, complete a Specially Adapted Youth Education tailored to each young person’s needs and prerequisites.

The social economy enterprise is non-profit, and all economic surplus is reinvested in creating educational and job opportunities for young people with autism.
