Esbjerg awarded as the Sanistål Store of the Year 2016

For the second time in just five years, the management at Sanistål has named the store in Esbjerg as Store of the Year. This decision takes place at an annual management meeting where everything from revenue per employee to store layout is considered.

- We evaluate the stores based on a wide range of criteria. First, we measure them against hard criteria, such as revenue and profit. Then we assess soft criteria, as we call them. This includes factors like the store manager’s role, store standards, and promotional sales, explains Sales Director Claus Jæger Nørbjerg.

Just a whisker ahead

According to the Sales Director, 2016 has been a good year for the Sanistål group, with many stores competing for this year’s title. However, for the second time in just five years, Esbjerg has come out on top.

- We have had a good year at Sanistål. But when we look at the overall figures, Esbjerg stands out just a whisker ahead of our other stores, which have also performed very well, declares Claus.

According to Claus, the purpose of awarding the Store of the Year title is to strengthen motivation and increase internal competition among the stores. Most importantly, the award is meant to create a positive atmosphere in the group.

- A title like Store of the Year doesn’t come with trips to Mallorca or anything like that. It’s about winning the honor, the bragging rights, and a large cake for the employees and their customers. But it is certainly a great achievement by our team in Esbjerg and very well-deserved, says Claus.

Closer to the customers

The store manager in Esbjerg, Thom Kikkenborg, acknowledges that the recent move of the store to Østre Havnevej has been a significant part of the success.

- When we decided to relocate the store to the harbor area, we not only got closer to our established customers but also to new potential customers. This has proven to be a good decision and given us a very busy everyday life, which we welcome, he adds.

In addition to Esbjerg, Vallensbæk and Viborg were named the best stores in their respective categories for large and small stores.
